You can watch John Edwards give a keynote address about “The Challenge of Reducing Poverty” at the 2008 Campus Progress National Conference in Washington, DC. on C-Span3 and hear him talk about campaign and about poverty on NPR’s Talk of the Nation.

This may be an oversimplification, but Edwards’ focus on addressing social and economic injustice reminds me of Bobby Kennedy. If there’s any truth to that impression, then I’m all the more puzzled by the disinterest in, and lack of support for, Edwards displayed by my parents and others who were strong advocates of Kennedy, back in the day. Am I that far off in my comparison, or were the older Democrats so traumatized by the Kennedy assassinations (as several have stated to me) that their enthusiasm for politics has been permanently reduced or even eliminated?
Anyway, I look forward to listening to the Talk of the Nation interview; I missed it yesterday, as it comes on during lap-swimming time at the school district pool here.
