Well, there are plenty of people who ignore 100+ years of evidence and insist that Communism is a dandy political system – should *they* be banned from running for office? How about a pro-choice, universal-healthcare-supporting, feminist…. Wiccan who happens to believe that her spells and crystals influence the world for peace? Is she to *also* be excluded from the “cool club” of being allowed to run for office? How about those who believe in reincarnation? Oh, I know – what if the concesus was that global warming is *not* anthropogenic – would you then want to bar Al Gore as an “idiot”?
They can run. They cannot be expected not to be ridiculed in the process.
