A Blog Around The Clock 
This news is sad to me. I worked on Russ’ last re-election campaign in Wisconsin and have written him many times with the hopes he could be convinced to run in 2008.
Since I no longer live in Wisconsin, I am a bit out of the loop and hadn’t heard that he decided not to run. He is a fine man, a true patriot, a wonderful legislator and a true catalyst for political change. Perhaps it is best that he remains free of the constraints of white house horse play so he may continue to be effective.
Thanks for posting this, I believe Russ’ name should become more widely known.
He has my complete admiration. Glenn Greenwald masterfully explains the whole story of today. On one hand, Russ would be a dream President. On the other, his name-recognition nationally is minimal and, especially in a competitive, star-studded field, he would have a huge battle to win the nomination. This leaves Edwards and Gore as potential Left candidates in an ocean of “moderates” – both of whom are nationally known and well-liked people.
