Today (yes, I know, it was leaked last night), President Obama announced that the first nations’ Chief Technology Officer will be Aneesh Paul Chopra.
The Silicon Valley folks are not pleased. Tim O’Reilly thinks he is an excellent choice. What do you think?

He seems to be qualified politically at least.
Other than the headline, I don’t see how you read that post as the “Silicon Valley folks” not being pleased? Seriously. If you read it, the only part of it that cites Silicon Valley being displeased is the title.
That is correct. The link is to the article that discusses that view. I never claimed it was an article that espouses or exemplifies that view.
A few quick observations about this choice. First, it looks like very good news for the transparency movement, as well as those of us looking for an open-minded leader willing to experiment with new forms of collaborative governance. Virginia was one of the first states to move, with Google’s help, to make its state websites more searchable and thus more accessible to ordinary citizens.
