Funny, but like so much of what Churchill uttered, and wrote (he was very prolific), it is also poignant, and the more you know about his biography, the more profound it becomes.
I’m currently in the midst of William Manchester’s remarkable biography of WSC and am discovering just how exceptionally rich and remarkable a human life can be. That it occured at all is almost beyond belief, and that it happened when it did is something to ponder, and should give one reason to pause to think when tempted to comment about what we think we know regarding any of the great events of past history let alone here in our own rapidly changing current of modern events.
